Lover’s Lament
He picked up the pieces
Scattered shore to shore
Raven crying, nevermore
What ever for? He intonated
As heart in chest it undulated
Weeping willows, tree of sorrow
A brighter better new tomorrow
Cloud hands wiping tears away
A new Dawn, a new Day
Pure intent, a soul’s lament
For him she’d gladly circumvent
The world twice over,
Moreover,
At last she’s found a four leaf clover
God, thank her lucky stars
Though their lives were marred
By pain and anguish,
Let it vanish
Banish it to foreign lands
Upon which they’ll never stand
For they have found more solid ground
No longer iron shackle bound
The sweetest sound
His laugh, sweet solace in this path
Erase macabre epitaphs
And write a simpler melody
A soul, once more, sings free
To feel, to live, to be.
